Blood in Bodies of Water | Ceramic Objects | various sizes | 2024

We are all bodies of water. Blood in bodies of water symbolizes women, their menstruation, and the ability to conceive life, reflecting on ideas of womanhood and the nurturing nature of motherhood. These bodies of water play a crucial role in sustaining life's cycles. However, women's bodily agency and reproductive rights are often disregarded under the guise of morals and saving lives, leading to their inability to freely enjoy their lives.
The collection of ceramic forms represents this inaccessibility, closed and devoid of life. "Blood in Bodies of Water" connotes vulnerability to predation and the imminent danger of attack, highlighting the void, challenges, and frailty women face in society.

The project "Mis(s) Re(a)d: The Othered Self" explores and challenges 'othering' and its misrepresentation. The works in the exhibit draw inspiration from hydrofeminist ideologies, delve into ideas of embodiment and ecological ethics in our current post-human era.
"Mis(s) Re(a)d," intends to carve out space for voices often marginalized by conventional assumptions and expectations. Work draw lessons from water, a symbol of connectivity, differentiation, and facilitation. Water is a connector, shedding light on the intricate intersections of our body, its environment, and its relationship to other forms of being. It brings diverse bodies into intimate contact, transcending differences.
