Disentangled 2020
“disentangled” encourages us to disentangle our muddled and selfish relationship with nature and each other. It visually attempts to exhibit ideas of our Inherited mutual connection and hopes to widen our scape and sense of interconnectedness.
The work initially started as a reflection on loss - loss of connection with people, places, nature, and loss of one’s connection to themselves. These works provided a space to pause and disentangle and preserve our connection. It allows us to nurture past experiences (materials) and a space to reinvent. The work utilizes techniques of collages and bricolage, using remnants of old prints with basis mark making. The work intends to continue the dialogue of what making marks and leaving an impression/imprint means. It allows for reimagining by combining, rearranging, reusing, and reorganizing a previously closed set of materials and methods to re-contextualize and build new meanings.
